The Gosport and Fareham Youth Orchestras (GFYOs) were formed in 1955 and will be celebrating their 70th anniversary in 2025. The GFYOs now has 5 ensembles in its pyramid: Ukulele and Guitars ensemble, Young Strings, Wind Training Band, Concert Band and Youth Orchestra. The Portchester, Fareham and Gosport Brass Bands and choir are formed of three brass bands (Junior, Training and Senior) and choir. The age range from across all these ensembles is 6 – 18 years old and involves over 150 local musicians.

The GFYOs and PFGYBBs aim to provide a wide range of performance and educational opportunities for strings, wind, brass and percussion students resident in Gosport,  Fareham and Portchester. It is funded by the Hampshire Music Service as part of the network of highly successful musical opportunities they provide. As well as regular concerts in Hampshire, the ensembles in recent years have travelled to Germany, Belgium and will be heading back to Belgium this coming summer.
