Wednesday 17 July – Gosport Giant Sing – From Way Up Here
Primary schools across Gosport were invited to join together to sing eight songs written by their peers from across the region. Accompanied by a narrative, each song was inspired by a local story or legend; from Elvis the Eel to Apple Dumpling Bridge and the famous diving helmet.
The songs took us on a journey along the Alver River from a birds eye view.

Thursday 18 July – Dance Devising Project – Flight
This project worked with approximately 65 secondary students from the local area led by Natasha Khamjani, and devised collaboratively using Gosport and it’s links to aviation and all aspects of being airborne including the infamous Brent Geese.
The performance from the students lasted around sixty minutes with support from professional dancers.
For more information please visit our Flight page.
Friday 19 July – AM – Wonder Gigs
Part of the Wonder Gig series of events that have been hosted at local libraries across the region; attendees enjoyed an uplifting 45 minutes with their little ones to listen to live musicians playing beautiful acoustic versions of well-known pop songs, all arranged to be enjoyable for both big & small ears alike.
Accompanied by beautiful sensory activities from Filskit Theatre, each gig will explored a new theme from colour & shape to nature. No pressure and no judgement; just a gentle, interactive, playful time with some great tunes.
Find out more about Filskit Theatre here.
Friday 19 July – PM – Gosport and Fareham Youth Orchestra Proms
Gosport and Fareham Youth Orchestra Pyramid (one of many ensembles provided by Hampshire Music Education Hub) invited members of the community to join them for this open air event, featuring music and performances from all nine groups across the pyramid. This was a Proms style event with satellite performances across the venue. Audience members were invited to bring their own picnics, blanket or foldable chair and enjoy an evening of music.
Saturday 20 July – Music at The Fort – Quay West Studios
Quay West Studios hosted performances from young local musicians from early afternoon well into the evening. Creating an opportunity for those wanting to showcase their talents in a fully professional environment, with a full sound and lighting rig creating that festival atmosphere.
Sunday 21 July – Community Ceilidh
Gosport has strong links to Folk Music, and in celebration of those GCEP hosted a Ceilidh alongside Hampshire Music Education Hub Partner, Folk Active.
A ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) was traditionally an Irish or Scottish social gathering but these days, most people associate ceilidhs with group dancing, accompanied by lively fiddle driven folk music. A “caller” hosted each dance and taught those who attended everything they needed to know.
Thursday 18 – Sunday 22 July – Gosport Cultural Education Project Exhibition
THE KEEP, FORT BROCKHURST
As part of our wider project, we exhibited the work and outcomes from across the two years, expanding the content and comment on how Gosport is perceived by its younger inhabitants. You can read about our Year 1 and Year 2 projects by following the links.
Providing further information around the project, our partners and creations of the young people of Gosport, attendees were able to walk around and admire the work in a section of The Keep at Fort Brockhurst.
